Lonely bananas

Have you ever noticed there are always solo bananas in the unpackaged section? Most people just want a few bananas so break off the one banana they do not want. Although this will prevent wastage in the home it will not stop wastage in the supermarket. 1.4 million bananas are thrown away every day. The single bananas are left behind no one wants them but there is nothing wrong with these bananas. Picking up these single bananas will help to reduce mast wastage of bananas. There are various things that you can use bananas for.
Bananas are high in potassium they are good for many different things. Potassium is wonderful for the soil filling it with nutrients. Put the banana peel in a jar filled with water and keep the airtight jar, out of sunlight. Keep this sealed for a week then use the water as fertiliser for both indoor and outdoor plants.
Banana can be used to add creaminess to vegan curries, add mashed banana to your curry and the texture will be thick and creamy. It is also a good alternative to coconut milk or cream as it has less fat. Bananas also make excellent smoothies and milkshakes. Cut up your banana, add your choice of ice cream or milk then blitz. You can also add other fruit like blueberries or mango. Alternatively, chop up your fruit and place it into freezable containers to use when you want to make a smoothie.

Banana bread has become very popular during lockdown but it is a very good use of aging bananas. Cookbooks and the internet are filled with banana bread recipes. Baking with bananas has become an alternative to using eggs. Use one ripe banana to replace a whole egg.
Don’t leave a lonely banana they grow in bunches they love to be together. If you are buying bananas make sure to pick up that banana that has been left all alone.
