September is time to challenge yourself.

Oxfam’s second-hand September

Anyone up for a challenge, this September Oxfam is prompting and challenging us only to buy 2nd hands. This initiative is to get us all thinking about our consuming habits. Are you someone who follows trends and changes your whole wardrobe when the new season begins? Buying secondhand reduces your carbon footprint and limits the amount of consumer waste we accumulate. Shopping secondhand is an adventure search through the bridesmaid dresses and 70’s concert t-shirts. Amongst all the unwanted clothing you will find a real treasure. We can shop second-hand in small independent stores and from the comfort of our homes on sites like vinted, Etsy, and eBay. For the whole of September, instead of buying something brand new, look and see if you can find the thing you want second-hand. Sometimes these items can also be cheaper than something brand new. There are a few things you should not buy second-hand ( underwear unless still in packaging, car seats, helmets, and pillows) these are just a few things that you cannot guarantee the quality of. The second hand is brilliant at finding clothing and homeware items, creating a unique look for yourself and your home.

Sign up for the second-hand September challenge and see how you find only buying second-hand. #secondhandseptemeber
